BAND BIO

Mr. Woody was formed in the spring of 1996. Pat and Dwight saw a bunch of bands in Hollywood and said, “Heck, we can do that!” So they bribed, blackmailed, embarrassed, swindled, peer-pressured, and connived Steve and Ross to leave their regular paying gigs and their wives to join this sure winner, Free Beer (until we found out that some other loser band already had that name). So Mr. Woody was born.

The band was put together to write some funny songs and do one pay-for-play gig in Hollywood so that we could party with our friends. We still haven’t had that pay-for-play Hollywood gig, but ended up recording 2 full-length original CDs. We have also played about 50 gigs and counting. Looks like the world is stuck with us for a while.

Some of our highlights have been hearing our original songs on Los Angeles radio (KLSX, KIEV, KXLU), our own cable access show on Time Warner, A birthday party for a 3 year old, and our name in lights on Hollywood Blvd several times.

When Screamin’ Steve on guitar hits the stage, with unemployed Pat on drums, family man Ross on bass and drunken Dwight behind the mic, we create a sound that is energetic and tastily tantalizing to all those lucky enough to show up at the gig.

The songs in the show detail psycho people, including old psycho girlfriends and wives, alien lovers, drooling people, animal killers, and loser guys. There are punk cover songs, bad poetry readings, and Big 80’s song endings. Occasionally, Steve gets to do a solo. But only if the band lets him…

Currently the band is unemployed by several record companies, which leaves us free time to devote to our real, paying jobs (not Mr. Woody - yet). For our success, we wish to thank…I guess no one.
